My New Year Plan

Every year around Christmas I think of all the things I would like to make for my friends and family. But often, I talk myself out of actually giving the gift because I am afraid that they will feel awkward when I give them a gift and they don't have anything for me. Do you ever feel like that. For example: I was planning to make a cookie tray for my one friend and didn't get it done. It was 2:30 am and I thought to myself "I need to make up one for ....." but I was tired and didn't do anymore......What happened the next morning?...she gave me a cookie tray. Bummer. I felt so bad that I didn't really enjoy receiving the gift...Don't get me wrong-I thanked her a bunch. But inside I was mad at myself...DO ya know what I mean? So I was visiting http://sewnwithgrace.blogspot.com/ and she was planning to make something for Christmas every month so that the few month before Christmas wouldn't be so stressful. Sounded great to me but I think my plan is going to be to focus on birthdays all year long. That way I won't feel awkward when they don't have anything for me..It won't be my birthday...Problem solved. So tonight I got started.

I went thru and wrote down everyone so I won't leave anyone out. Some will just get a simple birthday card.

Others will get a notepad. I am planning on using things I already have...as much as possible. I got to looking at my stampin stash and thought that might be a good place to start.

I put some of their initials on the front cover.
I am happy how the first bunch are coming along. I am not sure what else I will decide to make. It won't all be the same thing. This is just the start. Just thought I would share what I was up to tonight. What were you working on?

  1. That always happens to me too!!! Still year after year, I never seem to prepare ahead so good for you!!!

  2. Oh, you are sooo not alone on this. I love the cards, they are wonderful! Way to go on getting a HUGE jumpstart on them!! I'm in the process of making lists myself... we'll see how that goes :).
Currently not working on anything. NEED so badly to get into my wool room and clean it up so I can get my creativity back!

  3. Lisa ~
What a great plan! I've not tried stamping and I sure don't need another craft that I don't have time for :)
    Hugs :)

  4. Yes, I know exactly how you feel~ why do we feel so awkward about giving/getting gifts like that?
I think this is a wonderful idea, Lisa~ and they are coming along great! I have been working on organizing my
needle packs and organizing some of my notions tonight. I have to clean before I can create... *sigh*...

  5. What a great idea and so proactive. I think these look beautiful. The notepads are great-who wouldn’t love that? Can’t wait to see what else you make ;)

  6. Hello from That Country Place in Alberta, Canada :) I love making things for people as well, and cards are on my list of things to get done! Homemade gifts are the best!! It is a cold wintery night here, and I think after surfing around blogland, I will get at makin a card or two. thanks for the inspiration.

  7. Hey there, Lisa~ just checking in on you... hope you're not working too hard!!

I'm glad you came for a visit. I hope you will leave a comment. I love to hear from you.
