Today has been a scary day

This morning Larry and I were in the kitchen cooking sausage gravy and our dog Maddee fell over and started having a seizure. She looked like she was trying to swim or something. Larry got down on the floor and held on to her to try to calm her. It only lasted a few minutes. I was on the floor keeping Carlee away from her. She kept trying to see what was wrong. I was so scared. I just kept talking to her and praying she would be okay. When it was over she just layed there for a while. She was able to get up and she went into the living room after Larry called her in. She layed there for a bout a half hour then she got up and layed on the couch. She stayed there for a couple hours sleeping. Then she got up and stretched and she has been her normal self since. She was outside playing tug of war with Carlee.

I had called the emergency vet and she said if it happens more than 3 times in 24 hours they recommend hospitalizing them. So we thought we would just watch her closely. I swear I haven't left her side all day. I get so sick to my stomach just thinking about it.

She had an episode over two years ago. It was in the middle of the night and she jump out of our bed and the same thing happened. We thought she had hit her head or something. Now that it has happened again we now differently. I am hoping to get her in to see our normal vet in the morning. I just love her so much. It is scary. I know I said that already. I hope the vet will have some answers. Has anyone had a dog with seizures? I hope you all are having a better day. I could defiantly loose weight this way though. Good night.

  1. Oh, Lisa ~
I am glad Maddee returned to her normal self. Hopefully you can get her in to the vet's tomorrow and maybe he will have some answers. Thankfully I've not had such an experience and I'm sure I would have been as scared as you.
Sending healing pug hugs to you and Maddie :)

  2. I am glad that Maddee is doing better. My fur baby had seizures today and I had to put him to sleep. He had 4 within an hour. He was 10. I hope you have many happy years with your baby. God Bless.

  3. I know how scared you must have been. Millie had a seizure a few years ago and fell off my bed. She had another one about 9 months later. I spent hundreds of dollars at the vet and got no answers. She hasn't had any since.
I hope Maddee is feeling better and this doesn't repeat for you.

  4. My goodness that must have been horrible! I am not familar with dogs and seizures, my dogs did not have that. Will be anxious to hear what the vet has to say. Blessings to you all!

  5. Yikes! I read the last post and had to come back and see what happened~ that IS scary!

I'm glad you came for a visit. I hope you will leave a comment. I love to hear from you.
