A few things to share

Well the fall rug is ready to be finished. Not sure how I am going to finish this one. I might try something different. Use a wool worm to wrap around the edge so to speak. I might as well try it and see how it goes, right? I decided to go with just a simple border. Mainly so I could move on and think about the next adventure. Today Larry took me to a wonderful store in Berlin Ohio. I was hoping to buy a frame to hook on. I am currently using a hoop type of thing and it is so big and so ackward. We however decided to look into just buying the grippers and making our own. Does anyone have any tips on frames they would like to share? I hate to go and buy something and then have regrets. I don't know if I need a stand. I usually sit on the couch indian style and I think I would be okay with a lap frame. I saw one that had an attachment for a lamp and for your wool cutter. Fancy... I like fancy... Oh well, this will not be decided tonight. Moving on.... Since I was disappointed leaving the store without a frame. Larry took me to a thrift store. He knows that will perk me right up. Boy do I sound BORING! Oh well, I am over it. I was able to find a new swan($2.50) and a new basket.($3.00) I think I am going to hook something to put on the top of the basket and make it into a hooking tote. I carry baskets for my purse often but this one is pretty deep. I think it would be better as a tote. It has a wooden handle that isn't in the picture.

Fall Clean up

Since it has been so dry our pond is soooo low on water. Larry thought it would be a good time to get in and clean up all the lilies and remove the leaves. We have to put a net over the pond to keep out all the falling leaves from the neighbors. We have a feeling that the leaves might fall fast around here. Just not enough water lately. The frogs seemed alittle irritated at us. I am just glad Larry is willing to get in there and get that job done. I don't want that job for anything. It is so sad that our liner is showing so much. I wish we would get some rain...

The Border?

I have been trying to decide what to do in the borders of the Fall rug. I was planning on using a variegated wool and just do a 2in border. I did some and didn't like it and pulled it out. ( I have to admit that unhooking is a lot easier than taking out sewing or quilting stitches. )It wouldn't be too exciting but it would be finished... right... But now I keep thinking leaves or maybe a checker board around the edge. I hate indecisive days. They are a bummer. I might just go upstairs and do a simple black border and move on to something new. I have to admit I am getting tired of this one. Not because I have worked on it too long because truthfully I haven't worked on it very much. I just hate that I can't seem to make up my mind. I do like it though for my first original( that isn't that original)

This is a wreath that I found at the thrift store recently. The plan was to take off the flowers and replace it with some other flowers that I found. The wreath base is twigs..which I love. I really like the narley ones but this one was still cute. The more I looked at it I thought I might just add some more flowers with alittle more color and call it a night. I just don't know if it looks good or not. I still might need to start over. I am planning on putting it in our bedroom over the headboard.
What do you think ? Start over or leave it for now? I think a bow might finish it off. I don't have anything right now though. Oh well, I think it is time for bed. There is always tomorrow...for these tough decisions. lol Night!

It has been a good day

I was hoping to get alot of little things done today and I think I accomplished that. I stained the boards and put them down with glue. We put up most of the copper in the shower tonight. I am really excited about the way it is turning out. We had a vision for this bathroom but we just were not sure if we could pull it off or not. I was also able to wash my new wool finds. I just put them in the dryer. It was another great wednesday. Good night all. Lisa

My Day Off.... What to do first?

I have high hopes of getting a lot of little projects done around the house. First is to stain the 2 floor boards in the bathroom and get them in place. I also have to fix some of the grout in the new shower floor so that we can seal the tile. We are putting up the last of the copper strips hopefully tonight. Our bathroom is going to be pretty "original" when it all gets done. It has been such a slooowww journey. I think it has been going so slow because we have chosen so many items that aren't the normal stuff and we have to figure out how to do it first. Hope whatever you do today makes you smile, often. What a Day!

I am so glad to be home from work. I work at a large restaurant and today was a zoo. I sure hope tomorrow is a better day. I think I am going to go take a shower and do some rug hooking and try to relax tonight. I hope wherever you are and whatever you are doing there is something that will "make you smile" good night all!

My Favorite Collections

I thought I would link with http://primitivedevotion.blogspot.com and list some of my favorite collections. It is hard to narrow them down. One of my newest loves is these white pitchers. I have them all over my home. I thought about grouping them all together, but since I was cleaning up my home today I didn't want to make a mess. So I am just going to post a few.
I also have a thing for old ladders. I took a picture of a ladder and one of my other collections...Baskets....I counted and I have six ladders just in the living room alone.
Just realized that I should have cropped out the tv screen. It is very distracting. Anyway...
Here is one of the other ladders in our living room.

Old spools and the like are another collection. I never seem to have too many. lol

I am not sure exactly what these are spools, bobbins...I just know I like them.

Swans are one of my newer collections. I just think they are so pretty.

This one I found on monday at the thrift store. It is my largest swan, probably 12" long. I was so happy that I looked over the spot that it was in again, I missed it the first time thru. It was marked $1.00. Woo Who... Jackpot!
Well I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the things that make me smile. Hope you have a great night and that you take time to enjoy the things that make you smile. Lisa

God is So Good to me!

I know that there are countless ways that God is Good to me! I always try to acknowledge these events whenever possible. I realized Sunday afternoon that I had lost a diamond from my wedding ring. It was such an awful feeling because I had been out garage sale shopping and there was no way I would be able to find it....Right?...I just started looking around my house, no luck....The thought came to look in my bed. Maybe just Maybe.... Low and behold there it was. I was so thankful for the random thought that came to me..or was it random. Love it!!!

make it for monday

This is my first attempt to participate in this event. I hope that all will go well. Cross your fingers for me.

I thought I would show my cabinet in the kitchen that holds our dog food and all their treats.
We found it on the curb and brought it home. We were in my car and it would not fit in the trunk very well. My husband, who loves a challenge, put the back seats down flat, helped me rest the cabinet on the rim of the trunk, had me hold the cabinet while he climbed in the back seat, laying on his back he grabbed the cabinet and told me to get in and drive the 10 blocks or so to our home. Can you say the word "Hillbilly" I am sure we supplied our neighbors with a good laugh or two that day. But we were able to get home safely.
Next came paint. Now we have a place for all those wonderful treats for our little "kids".

Here is a shot of our sink and vanity area. I just love the way the counter turned out. It was just a piece of wood when we started this process. I just love the edge.
Here is my new soap dispenser that I found at the thrift store a while back. I got it for 90 cents. I put soap in it today. I am so excited for this bathroom project to be done. I have been saving some items to put out to motivate me to keep on keeping on. Today was the day for the soap. lol.

Here is the latest picture of our toilet in our master bath. If you remember I was unhappy with the stain on the tank cover etc. I painted over the stain with a flat black paint and I like it alot better. My next obstacle is the pull chains. The toilet had a button for liquid and solid flush. I thought it would be funny to have a chain for #1 and #2 (literally). The problem is what do I use for the #1 and #2 symbols on the end of the chains. Any ideas? We left the chains long until we come up with the ends.
