Need Rug Hooking Advise please

So here it the new project. This is my new Camera case with room for my wallet and essentials.
This is the swan I drew out last night. The plan is to cover the ugle wood top to the basket.

Here are some of the colors I took out of my "Little" stash. Lite blue for the sky, couple creams for the swan, black for eye and beak, and three blues ( one didn't show up very well) The advise comes with how do you make pretty water/waves? I have seen you all use numerous colors all together. How do you plan it? I hope this is making sense. I would appreciate any advise. I also am wondering how I will treat the edge. Has anyone ever sewn fabric on and turned a rug?
I hope I don't make too many mistakes at work today... I think my mind might be on something else rather than work. Thanks.

Another Good Day

I am happy to report that the countdown that I am on is going GrEAt!!! I am right on schedule. I have the house cleaned(just a few last minute things) I got the groceries for our meals, Planning the meals was the hardest part.
We were able to do some finishing touches on the new bathroom. Hung up some new things on the walls, took down the old temporary shower curtain. Yeppeee!!! and thru it away! I feel so good that I was able to get so much done.
I also went to the thrift store today and found two wicker chairs for $5.00 ea. I have to paint them but they felt very sturdy. I also got a couple pieces of wool.
I hope what ever you did today it made you smile! Good night!

Today there was a breakthru!

Well folks, If you have been here before, most likely you have read about the never ending bathroom project that Larry and I have been on. It seems like we have had one issue after another when it comes to this project. You may also know that my mother in law and two sister in laws are coming down this weekend. We really wanted to get the bathroom done. So monday night I came home early from work and we hoped to get so much done. What happened though was just the opposite. The plumbing that we were working on gave us nothing but problems. Larry would fix one leak only to find that we had another. So frustrating. So tonight I have to admit that I was dreading the project on my drive home.... What would tonight bring?

Halleluia!!! Things went so well... I almost have to pinch myself to believe it! We were able to get all the leak issues taken care of. We got the glass wall in the shower installed. The silicon sealer was installed. The plan for my day off tomorrow is to take down the temporary shower curtain and the rod system that we put up over our slipper tub. I have hated it since we put it up. I would never have thought that it would have been up this long. It is coming down and it is going in the trash and I am pretty sure no matter where you live in the U.S. or abroad you will probably hear the shouting where you are. lol. If all goes well tomorrow after cleaning there will be some new pics to share. Wish me luck. Good night all.

It's Raining!

I know it sounds really weird but I hope it rains for two days. We need rain so bad in my neck of the woods. I slept so peacefully listening to rain on the rooftop. I hope my pond is filling up.

I also thought of another advantage of the rain. I think it is raining hard enought to wash my car off. The restaurant that I work at is doing some construction. The blowing dust is terrible. All our cars have a new layer of dust and dirt on them everyday. I will be able to see my car's true color today.

I hope you are enjoying something today also. Have a good day.

The Countdown Begins!!

Larry and I are having visitors this Friday. His mother and two sisters are coming for a visit from Michigan. It is just a short visit, they will get here Friday evening and stay in a hotel fri and sat nights and go back home sometime on Sunday. I always use visitors for great motivation to clean alittle better than normal. So here we go....I started last night picking up my sewing area. I have alot to do. Since we are stilllllll working on the bathroom we have sheets of drywall, tools you name it, it is sitting out. Cuz we just might need it until we get finished...I just love those words. If I had a penny for everytime I have heard it since this project started. lol.

So anyway, I am going to try to be picking things up and staightening up all week so that it won't be so bad on Wed( my day off) to get the job done. Wish me luck.

Checking things off the "To Do" List

I was able to finish the edge of the Fall Rug the other day. Finally got around to taking a picture I am happy with the way it turned out. I tried the finishing technique that I learned on a tutorial on http://shabbysheep.blogspot.com . I think it would have turned out better if I wasn't rushing. None the less it is finished and I am already thinking of two new adventures. I am hoping to get my new frame the beginning of next week.
I also took a picture of my Friday Night Sew in project that I finished quite some time ago. I still don't know where I am going to hang it in my home. I might just settle for letting it hang on the side of basket til I can think of a good spot.

This is a trash find from a lonnnnggg time ago. I had always planned on painting it but never got around to it. You know how that goes, right? Well I got it painted then I thought it would look neat to have a mane and tail so I got out my rug hooking strips that I had cut up already and voila a cute little horsey. I think it might look cool if I made a rug that looks like a blanket and put it on the seat. I know I have seen pics with rocking horses before and thought they looked cool. Unfortunately, right now I can't think of how to decorate my house with one. lol. I had always planned on sitting it out on my front porch. Who knows. If I find a cute spot for it I will take an after pic.

A few More TTMMS(things that make me smile)

What do you think of the new chair? Larry found it on the curb. We haven't done anything to it. I just noticed that I still need to get some dust between the spindles. Surprise, surprise. I also found some pretty flowers at the thrift store last week and got them put in the basket. I put it on the door to our shed. I forgot to take an after pic. Maybe tomorrow.
What a sweetheart. I just love this girl! She was enjoying the wonderful weather.

She loves to be up as high as she can. I am so glad we rescued her from a shelter. Her time was running out. I can't imagine what our home would be like without her. She provides me with a steady dose of smiles. Thanks for listening to my random thoughts. Nite!

Organization needed!

I have been lacking on my organizational skills for a while now. The goal is to work on this a little at a time. Sooo I have been working on winding up my floss. Here is the before and the after.

I know this might not seem like much to some. But I am excited about my baby step. I figure if I tackle the various areas in my home that need this alittle at a time, the process might not be as painful as it could be. I think my next step needs to be with my silk flowers. Hope you have a good nite.

I got a present!

Some of you may know that I have been looking at hooking frames. I have been using a big, ackward hoop type thing to rug hook with. I just got one on ebay. It is a lap type frame. I am very excited. I wish it was here already. lol.
Today was an interesting day. I was having a hard time concentrating today. I think I was ready for my day off to start( just alittle too early) lol.
I hope no matter what you did today, you enjoyed the things that made you smile. Lisa

A few things to share

Well the fall rug is ready to be finished. Not sure how I am going to finish this one. I might try something different. Use a wool worm to wrap around the edge so to speak. I might as well try it and see how it goes, right? I decided to go with just a simple border. Mainly so I could move on and think about the next adventure. Today Larry took me to a wonderful store in Berlin Ohio. I was hoping to buy a frame to hook on. I am currently using a hoop type of thing and it is so big and so ackward. We however decided to look into just buying the grippers and making our own. Does anyone have any tips on frames they would like to share? I hate to go and buy something and then have regrets. I don't know if I need a stand. I usually sit on the couch indian style and I think I would be okay with a lap frame. I saw one that had an attachment for a lamp and for your wool cutter. Fancy... I like fancy... Oh well, this will not be decided tonight. Moving on.... Since I was disappointed leaving the store without a frame. Larry took me to a thrift store. He knows that will perk me right up. Boy do I sound BORING! Oh well, I am over it. I was able to find a new swan($2.50) and a new basket.($3.00) I think I am going to hook something to put on the top of the basket and make it into a hooking tote. I carry baskets for my purse often but this one is pretty deep. I think it would be better as a tote. It has a wooden handle that isn't in the picture.

Fall Clean up

Since it has been so dry our pond is soooo low on water. Larry thought it would be a good time to get in and clean up all the lilies and remove the leaves. We have to put a net over the pond to keep out all the falling leaves from the neighbors. We have a feeling that the leaves might fall fast around here. Just not enough water lately. The frogs seemed alittle irritated at us. I am just glad Larry is willing to get in there and get that job done. I don't want that job for anything. It is so sad that our liner is showing so much. I wish we would get some rain...

The Border?

I have been trying to decide what to do in the borders of the Fall rug. I was planning on using a variegated wool and just do a 2in border. I did some and didn't like it and pulled it out. ( I have to admit that unhooking is a lot easier than taking out sewing or quilting stitches. )It wouldn't be too exciting but it would be finished... right... But now I keep thinking leaves or maybe a checker board around the edge. I hate indecisive days. They are a bummer. I might just go upstairs and do a simple black border and move on to something new. I have to admit I am getting tired of this one. Not because I have worked on it too long because truthfully I haven't worked on it very much. I just hate that I can't seem to make up my mind. I do like it though for my first original( that isn't that original)
